Sustainability at Glenturas

Hero Mobile

At Glenturas, we have a strong commitment to sustainability. This stems from an understanding of the need to minimise the environmental impact of our operations and our contributions to climate change.

The construction industry can play a significant role in environmental degradation, however, we are dedicated to providing homes and critical infrastructure in a way that protects the environment, prevents pollution and preserves natural resources.

Our Sustainability Strategy defines our approach to managing environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues which we encounter as part of our daily activities, including the frameworks with which we align such as the ISO 14001 standard for Environmental Management Systems.

Our Goals

We monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across multiple environmental aspects including carbon emissions, energy, fuel usage and waste management. By tracking these metrics, we can identify opportunities for improvement and make data-driven decisions to enhance our environmental performance. Our approach is supported by Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) and job-specific risk assessments which help us to control the activities which have an impact on the environment.

Engaging with our stakeholders, including suppliers and partners, is crucial to achieving our sustainability goals. We aim to work collaboratively to establish and achieve objectives within our supply chain, ensuring that our sustainability efforts extend beyond our immediate operations.

By promoting sustainability practices among our partners, we want to foster a culture of environmental responsibility throughout our business network.

Supporting these initiatives, we also place a strong emphasis on training and awareness programs for our employees. Enhancing their understanding of environmental issues and empowering them to contribute to our sustainability goals is a priority. Through regular communications and initiatives, we aim to foster a culture of sustainability within Glenturas, encouraging all staff members to take an active role in our environmental efforts.

Net Zero Targets

Looking into the future, Glenturas has established goals to become Net Zero by 2050, achieving a 90% reduction on Scope 1 (direct), 2 (indirect from power) and 3 (indirect) emissions from our 2023 baseline. Important interim targets are outlined in our roadmap, such as a 63% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions and a 100% reduction in Scope 2 emissions by 2035 when compared to a baseline of 2023.

To reach these targets, we aim to implement key initiatives that include adopting low carbon alternatives, such as renewable fuels and alternative technologies for our sites and begin the transition to low-carbon vehicles. We also aim to utilise 100% renewable electricity within our offices to eliminate scope 2 emissions and tackle Scope 3 emissions by establishing objectives for decarbonising our supply chain, prioritising partners who support our long-term goals.

As we move forward on our Net Zero journey, we remain adaptable and committed to transparency, continuously improving our practices to meet the evolving challenges and opportunities in sustainability.
