Glenturas Construction were sub-contracted to the Hitachi Energy for the civil element of the substation expansion within the existing Microsoft Data Centre Complex in Dublin.
Multiple existing underground services were required to be relocated prior to construction works commencing. The construction consisted of the installation of an array of underground ducting ranging from signal cables and fibre optic ducts, to 110kV grid connection ducts, construction of three number 110kv transformer bunds with 8 metre high blast wall separation. Construction of three line bays for electrical steelwork as well as reinforced concrete bases for prefabricated electrical substation buildings. All associated civil work was also complete including drainage, compound build-up, EIRGRID specification compound finishes and security fencing.
